13A-Final Portfolio

To begin this project I started to just put my projects in order of completion. I felt great and chose each of my projects where it be the look, images, colors, or what or who it was about. So it helped me to come up with the pattern that I created and then tried to use throughout each of the slides. I love blue ocean backgrounds, that’s where I got my background selection.

The critiques I received from Lani and other two media representative from the Observer who I requested for their opinion about my project were so helpful. It made me look for ways to update, and improve my work. I did not receive a critique from the important person, my instructor Sister Walker, but I received help from the people mentioned above. I was able to take into consideration many of the helpful hints, and missed most, because of the final meeting of the year that I attended to.

A13-Final Presentation

Critique:  I critiqued Lori and Chris.  I wish I’m creative like them. For Lori’s presentation all beautiful, something missing when I looked at the front page, but not sure what it was. Maybe the position of the text at the bottom right of the front page. I critiqued Chris to enlarge the text or I’m getting older, that’s all, but everything in both presentations is far better than mine.  I didn’t make it to the critique from Instructor on Tuesday. However, I received critique from Lani and other two people from Observer News Paper media here.

Since this is the final presentation, I realized where I am in this course compared to the rest of the class. I’ve seen professional media students in this class, and I admire all. I rated myself as the  last person, but I’m still thankful for the knowledge and light of this subject.

Process: I continued to be thankful for this course, I learn a lot more from it, even though I was a bit slow to meet due time for some of the assignments. The most challenging for me this week while working on my final presentation was the slide share site. I end up creating a new account so I will meet the due date for my blog post. If you see my slide share name is Adele Brown which is my middle and maiden name. I hope I’m not getting trouble for doing this, but the intention was to do all I can to be able to upload my presentation.

I started to view my 7A project and then work through the rest of it. There was a little change my magazine gift picture. The first picture was too stretchy for the magazine, so I searched for another one and I found the similar picture except for the size.  I really want to include throughout this course, like picture editing and others . However, I changed my mind because it’s going to leave twenty slides or more on my presentation and I think it will be bored for others to watch.

12 Magazine Spread & Schetch Project

Critique:  Although I uploaded my magazine project late, but Sadie Thornton and Steve Clouse’s helpful critiqued makes me feel comfortable. Steve said; he likes the picture I chose, but have put the baby image centered between columns with the text around. In his mind, it gives the idea that Christ is the reason for the season. He feels like it was just thrown in the bottom corner. The quote symbols are different, one is small and the another one is big and changing the font of the drop quote to the cursive font.  Sadie said, to make the green a little darker so it balances the red and Steve agreed with that too.

11A-Web Page Layout Project

Critique:  I didn’t get a critique from facebook because I uploaded late. However. I critiqued Leisl and Chris,  their projects looks perfect compared to mine.  My critiqued for Leisl was about adding white space to the beautiful project. I critiqued Chris no only I like how simple and professional his project was, but there was no one else critiquing his project.

10A-Movie Poster Project

10a-movieposterproject-saluburgess

I chose this movie title “The Rescuer” because I love to help anyone, anywhere in any way I can. The rescuer comes in whatever a person is refusing to do for themselves. I really don’t want to change my background because it explained some part of my theme.  The pink banner at the bottom is a picture of the partition in our office.

Critique Report:

I received a valuable critique from Lori on Facebook. She critiqued that my picture is the only bold color, and the body copy matches it. Another great critiqued was telling me about using the right font in the assignment for the body copy but still keep the color. Another good one is the “CUE” gets a little lost from the “RESCUE”. She also asked to try turning the title color to a bright yellow/white that is coming out of the gun, and last critiqued was about the wrong dimension. This one critique received covers everything that I need.

I critiqued Chris, with his good poster compared to my one. And the only thing that I asked to reconsider is his text font that I couldn’t read it.

I critiqued on Johanna with her poster suites everything and that poster looks like a real actress to me.

9A – Photographic Study Project

I begin this project with so much worry, because it’s complicated. I started out from temple ground, then to a lodge building, but here’s my husband’s old work Hilux truck, which I decided to take. Maybe these will be the last photos of this car before it’s done for its useful life.

The highlight of this picture are the two palm trees and our house corner shadows reflecting on the truck.

picture-2-tire

I zoom this picture from the front right tire, so i could get the read highbiscut flower on the other side of the truck.

picture-8-behind

This picture was taken from the right angle of the trunk and the rear bumper with the flower again on the end.

picture-6-top

This picture was taken from the porch of the two story building porch.

Process:

I tried to take photos from different views, different angels, sides, and from the top. Even photo taking, was fun but some photos were too dark and some a blurry. This car is always park in the garage, but a few photos were taken when it was parked outside the rain. Photo editing was totally not good for me. Photo shop is not that bad, but it took me forever to be familiarize with everything.  Important thing I noticed from editing, is changing the picture to a new look.

Critiqued

I got helpful critiqued from the Instructor. However, after making adjustments of the color & text size, the internet connection act up and the Photoshop trial didn’t work properly. So I couldn’t make the changes to the pictures that are too plain as critiqued.

The outdoor image I took my daughter’s photo from a family weekend at Aleipata Beach Resort on a very sunny day. The indoor photo I took inside my girl’s room just on the night before uploading this project. I think I took more than six times of this photo because it was a bit darker and not enough light.  The focus foreground and background photos took about 2:pm at afternoon from our front driveway. The orchid flower was on the other side of the drive in, with just a right position to take this photo. The Thirds image was my daughter sitting on the sand with her feet stretch forward, and the small beach house behind her, plus the palm trees.  My lead room photo took behind the chapel right after church last Sunday, still focusing on rule of thirds.

8A Social Media Marketing

Company: British Heart Foundation
Objective: Awareness to campaign promoting heart disease
Strategy: To make the audience aware of the symptoms before getting into a heart attack.

8a-socialmediamarketingproject-saluburgess

Process and Reasoning:  I have read about this company and the willingness to help and support the life of the people. They have done this by information on healthy eating, staying active and other factors that can help keep the people’s heart healthy. I do believe as well the in keeping our heart healthy, whatever age, the most important thing we need to know we can do to help prevent and manage the heart disease.

Critique: I was late to upload my project, so I sent to Sister Walker for a critique. She critiqued to change the font, one of the subtitles tilted at the angle which makes it hard to read, and it’s good to turn it to horizontal to make it easier to read.

7A Magazine Content & Sketches

Magazine Content and Sketches

The assignment challenged me, it was difficult then what I thought it would be. I wish I have the ability to speed up with ideas in my mind, so I will have a great post this week.

Story: A True meaning of Christmas

Aunt Anne has that love in her eyes that I feel inside my heart too. That light shines in her eyes every time I see her.  However she has anemia, sometimes she can’t feel when she touches things. Last year, she went through her first treatment for a period of 8 months, then her follow-ups every other month. Aunty Anne began to worry for her health, she felt that she’s just an empty box.  Happy moments of her life began to fade, “Laughter is timeless, Imagination has no age and dreams are forever”

Dr. Max called Uncle Jay, his wife Anne won’t be able to survive. If he can’t provide 5 tubes of blood within the next 2 hours. Uncle Jay didn’t want to ask anyone to donate blood because it’s too risky for other people. Unfortunately, he has no choice but started to contact their relatives and good friends close by to see if they have the same blood type with Aunt Anne. Only one person had the same blood type, was Jay’s, sister Rena – my mother.

Almost Jay’s entire family and friends prayed and fast for Rena because she volunteered to donate the amount of blood for Aunt Anne.  It was a critical situation, but she had faith in her that everything will be alright.  On November 1st, the doctor told Jay, that Aunt Anne, is ready to go home, after her final checkup and she’s doing very well, but needs a lot of rest.  In December towards Christmas day, Aunt Anne and my mom Rena received an invitation each, for a Christmas party from an unknown arranger.  Christmas eve will be the party, and it was a surprise party for Aunt Anne and Rena.  My mom said to me, are you sure this invitation is not from a stranger?  I paused for a moment and said to her. “I guarantee that nothing will happen because I went to the temple today and the person’s name I took in the session was Angel, so Angel will be at the party to watch over us”.

It’s Christmas Eve, Mom! Are you ready to go to the party? I’m not sure, I wish Anne is going to be in that party, said, mom.  When we arrived at the venue, my mother didn’t recognize her Brother Jay’s house, because of all these new and beautiful Christmas decorations. She walked inside and was surprised that her wishes came true. They hugged each other, and while they’re doing that, everyone in the party started to be in tears. They’ve seen a gift of life and love, shining from their eyes.

6A-Slide Design Project

Talk Title; “Building a Bridge of Faith”  By; Elder Charles Didier, on the October, 2001 General Conference.  I read this talk about building a bridge of faith.  I thought of the connection and how to bring our family together and create unity. Or, a way to become a happy family in this life and the life to come. I know this is the purpose in this life is to work together and seal our families for time and eternity or return home with honor.  It was difficult to find good pictures to explain this wonderful talk. But I actually come across the following picture links. It’s in order of my 10 slides design.

Critiqued from Lori The Student, turned a light and I saw what was missing in my font. She reminded the San Serif font instead of Serif font. So the font I changed it to was Franklin Gothic Heavy for the title and Agency FB for the copy. Steven Clouse, critiqued my slide number eight, the bright brick wall and both critiqued definitely helped presentation. I critiqued Asheligh Kubik, the presentation was great, but I suggested to shorten the copy if he wanted to. Also, it was nice to bold the titles. Another critique was for Lori, actually, this presentation looks perfect to me. I’m sorry if I have missed anything but the whole presentation look awesome. I just realized after my critiques, that Lori and I critiqued each other. Well, sorry about that I didn’t even see it.
